Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Bob's distraught owner has been ordered by the Court to re home Bob before the 9th Nov or he will be destroyed because he barks and the neighbours complained and said "the children are frightened"
Bob is 7 years old, good with people and children, not known about cats, not good with dogs.
Bob will be arriving with John on Thursday, if you can offer Bob a home please contact John 01932 571268
From Christine in Ireland:
Sadly, once children are mentioned in the same breath as GSD's here, they become the devil dogs and have to go.
The poor owner is gutted, he has had him 6 years and said he is the quietest dog he has known and loves him to bits.
This is what things are like in Ireland:
The German Shepherd Dog is one of 10 breeds that is on the Restricted Breed List.
These dogs or their owners are not deemed to have any rights.
By Law, we are not allowed to walk them in a public place without a muzzle and a 6ft lead. They are never allowed to run free in the park, not even a DOG PARK.
In Dublin City, council tenants are BANNED from owning any breed on this list.
Bob stands no chance here, his only hope is finding a home in the UK.
If you can offer Bob a home please contact John 01932 571268

Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Thanks Mel. I am so disgusted that this sort of thing is 'normal' over there. The Irish rescue ladies - & others that support our breed have been campaigning for years about the injutice of this ruling. It's the dogs & their owners that suffer, the government don't care.
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
This ruling by the Irish government is nothing short of ludicrous, what a terrible place for German Shep owners to live. I just can't imagine not being able to let Sabre run free in our parks. My heart goes out to Bob's owner and I wish Bob all the luck in the world in finding a loving new home in the U.K.

Here's the list of breeds.
( a ) American Pit Bull Terrier,
( b ) Bulldog,
( c ) Bull Mastiff,
( d ) Dobermann Pinscher,
( e ) English Bull Terrier,
( f ) German Shepherd (Alsatian),
( g ) Japanese Akita,
( h ) Japanese Tosa,
( i ) Rhodesian Ridgeback,
( j ) Rottweiler and
( k ) Staffordshire Bull Terrier and
every dog of the type commonly known as a Ban Dog (or Bandog) and to every other strain or cross of every breed or type of these dogs.
these breeds are supposed to be muzzled at all times in public and on lead. the legislation also applies to crosses of any of the above breeds- so that's a minefield for a start. Who could tell if a collie had a tincture of GSD in it?????
In my opinion , it's the most assinine piece of knee jerk legislation - which was brought in 1991.
Oddly enough, Boxers were originally on the list and then removed. Maybe some of the politicians
at the time had Boxer dogs.
Considering that German Shepherds were the first Guide Dogs - long before Labradors - shows
how innane this legislation is -
It makes me beyond

Here is the lad a very friendly soul who for 10 minutes all he wanted to do was to make friends with me and then back into the Sack for a sleep after all it is about a 14 hour journey to get to the UK. Will see what his reactions are later on to meeting another dog.
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Awww Bob looks gorgeous, fingers crossed that he gets a beautiful forever home quickly.
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
oh wow another happy ending his new mummy and daddy look great and it looks like he has been in the back of that car all his life for he rides he looks so happy
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Sadly Bob has come back into rescue because of his social skills with other dogs, his new owner was unable to handle him although when he was with John he did mix with a couple of dogs. He now needs someone to show him guideance.
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
I am glad to post that Bob has gone off to his new home, please keep all your bits crossed that this time it is forever.

Mike P has just posted this on BIGGSD:
I've just had some very sad news. Bob started behaving oddly and they rushed him to the vet. It now appears he may have suffered a stroke or might have a brain tumour, so he will be coming back to us. What we need now is a nice quiet foster home for Bob so that he can live out his remaining time in peace.

This has just been posted:
I am afraid I made a mistake.
I was under the wrong impression that Bob had been rehomed.
Very sorry about that.
There has been some interests in him but people are put off by his health problems.
He is a lively/happy chap though but still not too good with other dogs so I am told.

Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
So sorry to hear that Coral but I'm sure that there will be someone to love him despite his health problems.
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
aww bless bob I'm sure the right person will be along soon xxxxxxxxx
Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Bob came into foster with John earlier this year and is now coming to him again in foster later this week. He was said not to be good with other dogs, but John had him mixed with 2 dogs whilst with him. He has been rehomed on I think 2 Occasions and brought back because of this reason. He also has a medical problem which John will discuss by phone with anyone genuinely wanting to rehome him. In the hands of a understanding owner this boy will come good.
Please phone John in the first instance if you feel you are the right person for Bob.

Bob with Ally another Irish girl looking for her new home under the German Shepherd Rescue Surrey section.
A bit of a grumpy old man to start with but with the right dog(s) Bob could improve his meeting of other dogs.

Re: Bob Evicted by Court Order homed
Bob was out and about today on a organised walk at Newlands Corner near Guildford where he met other dogs and at one time he was one of 6 dogs all standing around with there handlers chatting away,
He then went on to a doggy funday at burgh heath near Epsom and was again on his best behavour
Bob at the start of todays walk, meeting and greeting
At the funday, Bob has a following of fans who wanted to walk him.
